The capital of the Umayyad Dynasty, which was the largest empire the world had seen and the fifth largest ever to exist.

Bosra, once the capital of the Roman province of Arabia, was an important stopover on the ancient caravan route to Mecca. A magnificent 2nd-century Roman theatre, early Christian ruins and several mosques are found within its great walls.

Most people talk the aramaic language, the language of Isa / Jesus (as) in Maalula. The inhabitants of Maalula are the natural descendants of those Semitic tribes which populated the Syrian desert and part of Mesopotamia 14 centuries ago.

A town in Syria where there is a big population of Christians. There are over 20 churches in this place, even though there are only some 4000 people living there. The city resides just outside of Damascus.
